At Harare, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh got off to a solid start with a 70-run opening partnership in just 61 balls. Opener Rifat Beg scored 31 before being dismissed. A 77-run stand for the second wicket between fellow opener Jawad Abrar and captain Azizul Hakim steadied the innings.
Abrar played a stellar knock, scoring 82 runs off 63 balls, including 12 fours and 1 six, before getting out with the team’s total at 147. Captain Azizul contributed 34 runs. After his departure, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Abdullah anchored the innings with an unbeaten half-century, scoring 56 off 64 balls with 4 boundaries and 1 six. Bangladesh finished their 50 overs at 274 for 8. Three Zimbabwean bowlers claimed 2 wickets each.
Chasing 275, Zimbabwe’s batters struggled to build partnerships against Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack. Opener Nathaniel Halabangana top-scored with 52, while Brandon Senjera added 26, but the hosts were bowled out for 183 in 42.2 overs.
Left-arm spinner Samiun Bashir, the hero of the previous match, led the bowling with 3 wickets for 14 runs. Al Fahad and Azizul picked up 2 wickets each.
Bangladesh will face South Africa in their third match of the tournament on July 31.
