Finance Secretary and SICIP National Program Director Md. Khairuzzaman Mazumder stated that upon successful completion of training for 12,000 youths, the government would provide further support to PKSF. He highlighted the global demand for skilled labor and urged PKSF and its partner organizations to contribute effectively to the state’s efforts in building a skilled workforce.
Additional Secretary and SICIP Executive Program Director Mohammad Walid Hossain expressed confidence in PKSF’s ability to implement the project efficiently across the country. He also announced plans to provide advanced overseas training for trainers to enhance their capabilities.
PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan emphasized that Bangladesh’s demographic dividend will not last forever, underscoring the urgent need to create a skilled workforce to capitalize on this opportunity. He noted that the project would support the government’s various skill development initiatives.
PKSF Managing Director Md. Fazlul Kader highlighted that over 2 million youths enter the labor market annually, presenting both a challenge and an opportunity for the country. Aligning with the government’s focus on skill development, PKSF has identified human capacity building through skill enhancement as a key strategy in its “Strategic Plan 2025-2030.”
Additional Managing Director Md. Jasim Uddin and Senior General Manager Md. Ziauddin Iqbal also spoke at the event, with the latter presenting a brief overview of the project.
The initiative will provide training in 12 trades, with all accommodation and food expenses covered by the project. Trainees will receive necessary support for self-employment or wage-based employment based on their acquired skills. Previously, under the predecessor SIEP project, PKSF trained 38,633 individuals in skill development.
