Six Arrested, Including Three Women, with Large Cache of Domestic and Foreign Arms in Madaripur

In a significant operation, the Bangladesh Army arrested six individuals, including three women, and recovered a substantial quantity of domestic and foreign arms in Madaripur. The operation took place in the early hours of Friday in the Ghunsi area of Shirkhara Union, under Madaripur Sadar Upazila.

The arrested individuals were identified as Milan Sabyasachi (Debu), 54, son of the late Abdul Karim Sabyasachi; Kamal Matubbar, 53, and Monu Matubbar, 50, sons of Shah Alam Matubbar; Lucky Begum, 45, wife of Kalam Matubbar; Parul Begum, 45, wife of Mofiz Matubbar; and Khadija Begum, 23, wife of Shihab Matubbar, all residents of the Ghunsi area. During a press conference held at the Madaripur Army Camp, it was revealed that the operation was conducted based on confidential information in coordination with the district police. The army personnel searched seven houses belonging to the same family in the Ghunsi area. From four of these houses, they recovered one 7.65mm foreign pistol, one 7.65mm pistol magazine, five rounds of 7.65mm pistol ammunition, one airgun, 120 rounds of airgun ammunition, one cut-down rifle, one baseball bat, two steel knives, two Chinese axes, seven machetes, one spear, 18 arrows, one foreign torchlight, five mobile phones, one tablet, one national ID card, and a passport. The press conference further disclosed that the six individuals were arrested for illegally possessing these arms. The recovered domestic and foreign weapons, along with the detained individuals, were handed over to the Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station. Major Kazi Foysal Faruk, Commander of the Madaripur Camp, stated that the arrested individuals had illegally stockpiled these arms without any licenses. He added that they were using these weapons to carry out sabotage and criminal activities.
