A series of powerful explosions rocked an arms and ammunition depot owned by the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) in Mareet Misrin, located in Syria’s northwestern Idlib province, on Thursday. The blasts claimed at least 12 lives and injured more than 100 people, according to a monitoring group operating in the region.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the explosions occurred in a TIP-controlled facility, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 individuals, including one woman and one child.
In a statement, Syria’s Interior Ministry announced that an “immediate and thorough investigation” has been launched to determine the cause of the explosions. The ministry vowed to hold those responsible accountable and implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
