Dreyer stated, “We operate in 150 countries and territories, and we have never seen such efficiency and decisiveness in decision-making. On behalf of all my colleagues at SpaceX, I extend our gratitude. We look forward to working with your team.”
In response, Dr. Yunus highlighted the importance of reliable connectivity during the monsoon season, when Bangladesh faces challenges like floods and waterlogging. He said, “During this season, maintaining connectivity through dependable technology is critical. Our remote hilly regions urgently need advanced connectivity. These areas lack schools, teachers, and doctors. We aim to introduce online education in 100 schools, which will greatly benefit students in isolated areas.”
Emphasizing integrated healthcare, Dr. Yunus added, “We are prioritizing digital healthcare to enable people in remote areas to consult doctors online. Many women, especially during pregnancy, rely on male assistance to visit doctors, but digital services allow them to access consultations from home. Expatriate Bangladeshis will also benefit, as language barriers often prevent them from consulting doctors abroad. This system will enable them to connect with Bangladeshi doctors from overseas. We are taking small but significant steps in this direction.”
Praising Dr. Yunus’s vision, Dreyer remarked, “The example you are setting should be shared with other leaders. If Dr. Yunus can achieve this in his country, others can too.” She also lauded his efforts against corruption, stating, “Your initiatives to deliver public services are highly commendable. I travel globally and understand how corruption can be a major issue. Your approach to decentralizing services and improving governance through technology is profoundly significant.”
The meeting was attended by Richard Griffiths, SpaceX’s Global Engagement Consultant, National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Foyez Ahmad Taiyeb, and Executive Chairman of BIDA and BEZA Choudhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun.
