In Bogura’s Adamdighi, at Santahar Railway Junction Station, police arrested three female passengers and recovered 10 kilograms of cannabis from two schoolbags found inside a train compartment. The arrests were made on Wednesday (July 30) around 11:30 AM when the Kurigram Express intercity train, traveling from Kurigram to Dhaka, was stationed at platform number three of Santahar Junction. Following their arrest, a case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act, and they were sent to court.
According to police and case sources, the three women were traveling to Dhaka on the Kurigram Express but had tickets only from Rangpur to Natore station. Posing as legitimate passengers, they occupied seats while carrying 10 kilograms of cannabis in two schoolbags. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid on the train at Santahar station’s platform three and apprehended the women with the cannabis.
Habibur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Santahar Railway Police Station, stated that the arrested women are cunning drug traffickers. They were apprehended based on confidential information, and after filing a case, they were sent to court.
