The government has allocated Tk 111.19 crore for converting Ganabhaban into the ‘July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum’ through a direct procurement method, bypassing the tender process. The project has been awarded to M/s Shubhra Traders and The Civil Engineers Limited.

The renovation and construction work required to transform Ganabhaban into a museum is set to be completed by August 5, 2025, and will be executed through direct procurement, meaning no tender will be called. The decision received policy approval during a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed, held at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

Sources from the meeting revealed that the museum project includes electrical and mechanical (E&M) components, such as electrical wiring, switches, and related equipment. Additionally, the civil works component will cover all other aspects of the project apart from the E&M work. The decision to transform Ganabhaban into the ‘July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum’ was approved on December 24, 2024, during a meeting of the Advisory Council. The museum is expected to be inaugurated on August 5, 2025. The Public Works Department under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works has decided that M/s Shubhra Traders will handle the E&M work, with an estimated cost of Tk 40.82 crore. Meanwhile, The Civil Engineers Limited, a civil engineering firm under the Standard Group, will undertake the civil works at an estimated cost of Tk 70.36 crore.
