US Imposes Sanctions on Palestinian Officials

 
The United States has announced sanctions against several officials of the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation Organization, led by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The announcement was made by the U.S. State Department on Thursday, July 31.

According to the statement, the sanctioned officials will be denied U.S. visas. The U.S. State Department stated, "These sanctions have been imposed in the interest of U.S. national security, as the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation Organization have failed to uphold their commitments and have undermined peace efforts."
