Dhaka, July 24, 2025: Following the tragic crash of an Air Force training fighter jet at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, two more individuals have succumbed to their injuries at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Currently, 42 patients are receiving treatment, with six in critical condition.
In a press briefing held after 8:00 PM on Thursday, Professor Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, provided these updates. He noted that, over the past two days, the condition of 13 out of 23 patients in the intermediate category has improved, and some may be discharged within the next couple of days.
Dr. Nasir Uddin also mentioned that the condition of burn victims can change over time. Among the 13 patients in the severe category, some may transition to the intermediate category in the coming days. Currently, eight patients are under treatment in the ICU.
Responding to a question, Dr. Nasir Uddin revealed that discussions have been held with medical teams from Singapore and India, and decisions regarding treatment are being made through a multidisciplinary board. He also mentioned that a meeting with a Chinese medical team is scheduled for tomorrow.
The Burn Institute’s director clarified that there is no immediate need for blood donations or skin grafts, and financial assistance is not required as the government is covering all treatment costs.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when an Air Force training jet crashed into a two-story building at Milestone School and College. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the crash initially resulted in 31 deaths and 165 injuries. With three additional deaths reported later, the total death toll rose to 34.
However, according to an update from the Directorate General of Health Services at 10:30 AM today, the death toll stood at 29. With two more deaths reported at the National Burn Institute, their count puts the total at 31.
Meanwhile, Milestone School and College authorities stated in a press release today that 22 people were killed in the crash. With the additional two deaths at the Burn Institute, their reported death toll stands at 24.
