Vaughan Suggests ICC Reduce India's Share to Increase Bangladesh's Allocation**

In the 2023-24 financial year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) generated approximately 10,000 crore rupees in revenue, with a significant portion coming from the Indian Premier League (IPL). Additionally, the BCCI received a substantial amount from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The BCCI received 1,042 crore rupees from the ICC in a single year, accounting for 10.70% of its total revenue. No other cricket board receives a higher share from the ICC. In contrast, boards like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and West Indies receive significantly less funding. Former England captain Michael Vaughan believes these nations should receive a larger share of ICC funds. Commenting on the ICC's revenue distribution policy, Vaughan said, "The thing that bothers me is that cricket’s money isn’t distributed fairly. The ICC has a lot of money. Even if we introduce a two-tier system in cricket, the fairest approach is to fix the revenue sharing. I’m not saying everyone should get an equal share." In July 2023, the ICC board approved a revenue-sharing model for the 2024-27 cycle, allocating the largest share—38.50%—to India. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) receives 6.89%, Cricket Australia (CA) 6.25%, and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) 5.75%. Other nations receive less than 5% each. Vaughan added, "Teams like West Indies, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand should get a larger share of the revenue so they can pay their players more. If these players receive a substantial amount, they will play for their national teams for longer."
