On Tuesday (July 29), around 9 AM, the body of a woman who went missing after falling into an open drain was recovered from Shalikchura Beel in Tongi, Gazipur. The incident occurred on Sunday (July 27) around 9 PM when she fell into a drain near the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the Hossain Market area of Tongi.
Senior Station Officer of Tongi Fire Service, Md. Shahin Alam, confirmed the recovery of the body.
The deceased has been identified by her relatives as Faria Tasnim Jyoti, aged 26. According to reports, Jyoti resided in Mirpur, Dhaka, and worked as a marketing representative for a company named Moni Trading Corporation. On the day of the incident, she had visited Imperial Hospital in Tongi to promote her company’s products to doctors. While crossing the highway to reach the hospital, she fell into an open drain. Due to heavy rainfall, the highway and drain were submerged, leading to the tragic accident caused by her inability to notice the hazard.
