31 Countries, Including Bangladesh, Condemn Israel's 'Greater Israel' Plan

Thirty-one Arab and Islamic countries, including Bangladesh, have condemned recent statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the "Greater Israel" plan, describing them as a violation of international law and a threat to regional stability, according to a report by Shafaq News.

In a joint statement released on Friday, countries including Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Turkey, Yemen, Libya, and Syria, along with the secretaries-general of the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), reaffirmed their commitment to the UN Charter and rejected the use of force or oppressive policies.

The statement also directly criticized Israel's far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich for approving the controversial "E1 Settlement Project" in the West Bank and opposing the establishment of a Palestinian state. These actions were described as a direct attack on the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.

Citing UN Security Council Resolution 2334 and the opinion of the International Court of Justice, the countries stated that any attempts to alter the demographic or legal status of occupied territories are illegal. They warned that settlement expansion, land annexation, forced evictions, destruction of refugee camps, and attacks on religious sites would have severe consequences.

Regarding Gaza, the statement accused Israel of committing genocide, ethnic cleansing, and using starvation as a weapon of war. The countries called for an immediate ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian aid, and the lifting of the blockade.

The statement urged the international community, particularly the permanent members of the UN Security Council, to pressure Israel to ensure the safety and right to a sovereign state for the Palestinian people.
