The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will take action against those involved in the looting of white stones in the Bholaaganj area of Companiganj Upazila, Sylhet. This was announced by Rafi Mohammad Nazmus Sadat, Deputy Director of the ACC Sylhet office, on Wednesday (August 13) after inspecting the white stone area.
Leading a nine-member team, Rafi Mohammad Nazmus Sadat visited the site and spoke to journalists. He stated that those complicit in the indiscriminate looting of stones will be identified, and a detailed investigation report will be sent to the ACC’s central office. He emphasized that the local administration bears the greatest responsibility for allowing such rampant looting. He further noted that assets worth hundreds of crores of taka have been extracted and misappropriated from the white stone area. Efforts are underway to identify those involved, and legal action will be taken accordingly.
Addressing the delay in conducting the operation, the ACC official explained that they operate based on directives from the central office. He attributed the delay to a shortage of manpower.
