Arms, Ammunition, and Bomb-Making Materials Recovered in Rajshahi Raid; Case Filed Against Coaching Center Director and Two Others

In a raid conducted at the ‘Doctor English’ coaching center in Kadirganj, Rajshahi, a joint force recovered arms, ammunition, and bomb-making materials. A case has been filed in connection with the incident at Boalia Police Station on Saturday night under the Arms, Explosives, and Narcotics Control Acts. The case was lodged by Sub-Inspector (SI) Rezaul Karim.

The three individuals arrested during the operation have been named as accused in the case. They are Montaserul Alam alias Anindya (33), the director of ‘Doctor English’ coaching center, and his two associates, Md. Robin (28) and Md. Faysal (30).

Boalia Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostak Ahmed stated that the three individuals have been shown as arrested under the Arms, Explosives, and Narcotics Control Acts. They will be produced in court by Sunday noon. The investigation officer, Inspector (Investigation) Motalleb Hossain, said a seven-day remand application will be submitted to the court for interrogation. Montaserul Alam is the son of Shafiul Alam (Lattu), a former vice-president of Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP. He is also a relative of Awami League leader and former Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton. Montaserul operated the ‘Doctor English’ coaching center near his residence in Kadirganj. The joint operation, conducted by the army and police, began on Saturday morning and continued until 3:30 PM. Items recovered include firearms, ammunition, military-grade binoculars, GPS devices, sniper scopes, local weapons, foreign-made sharp daggers, advanced walkie-talkie sets, teaser guns, unused SIM cards, bomb-making materials, computers, local and foreign liquor, and nitrogen cartridges. Additionally, divers searched a pond in front of the coaching center for more weapons, but nothing was found after several hours.
