Bangladesh Seeks to Strengthen Trade Ties with the United States

The U.S. Commercial Counselor in Dhaka, Paul J. Frost, met with the Administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Md. Hafizur Rahman, to discuss enhancing bilateral trade relations, market expansion, and mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States.

The meeting took place on Tuesday (August 19) morning at the FBCCI office in Motijheel, Dhaka.

During the discussion, Md. Hafizur Rahman highlighted the longstanding trade relationship between Bangladesh and the United States. Noting that the U.S. is one of the largest markets for Bangladesh’s export products, particularly ready-made garments, he emphasized that now is an opportune time to finalize a trade agreement to leverage trade potential and supply chain advantages. He also expressed gratitude to the U.S. government for reducing tariffs on Bangladeshi products. Paul J. Frost stressed the importance of fostering stronger relationships and networking between business communities of both countries. He invited Bangladeshi entrepreneurs and business leaders to participate in an upcoming Investment Summit in the United States.
Both parties emphasized strengthening bilateral trade relations and enhancing mutual cooperation. The meeting was also attended by FBCCI Secretary-General Md. Alamgir, Head of FBCCI’s International Affairs Wing Md. Zafar Iqbal NDC, Head of FBCCI Safety Council Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Abu Naim Md. Shahidullah, and Commercial Specialist from the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, Abir Barua, among others.
