Dhaka: Bangladesh’s readymade garment (RMG) exports to the European Union (EU) recorded significant growth in the first half of 2025, reaching €10.29 billion from January to June, a 17.9% increase compared to €8.73 billion in the same period of 2024, according to a recent Eurostat report. Meanwhile, the EU’s overall apparel imports grew by 12.3%, rising from €38.64 billion in 2024 to €43.39 billion in 2025.Despite Bangladesh’s higher growth rate compared to the EU’s overall import growth, it trails behind competitors like China and Cambodia. This robust growth has further solidified Bangladesh’s position as the second-largest apparel supplier to the EU market. However, China remains the top exporter, with its apparel exports to the EU increasing by 22.3% to €11.26 billion. Cambodia achieved the fastest growth, with a 30.4% surge in exports, reaching €2.07 billion.
The report indicates that Bangladesh’s 17.9% growth outperforms the EU’s average import growth and surpasses competitors like India, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Nevertheless, it lags behind China and Cambodia in terms of growth rate.
