Comilla, August 6, 2025: The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expressed support for the Chief Adviser’s 28-point declaration, despite having some reservations, in the greater interest of the nation. This statement was made by Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, a member of BNP’s National Standing Committee, during a victory rally organized by the Comilla Metropolitan, South, and North District units of BNP on Wednesday afternoon to mark the anniversary of the mass uprising.
Addressing the gathering, Zahid Hossain called on other political parties to engage in constructive politics, saying, “To those who criticize BNP, I urge you to come to the political arena and present your programs. We have our 31-point agenda; bring yours and stand with the people. Trust in the people’s verdict, as they will ultimately deliver the right judgment. The people never bow to conspiracies.”
He further noted that the people of Bangladesh were unable to exercise their voting rights properly in the last four elections. “Following the July uprising, the people of Bangladesh are eagerly awaiting a fair election. We hope the Chief Adviser’s declaration will be implemented swiftly, and we welcome it,” he added.
The event, presided over by Zakaria Taher Sumon, convener of Comilla South District BNP, featured speeches from notable figures, including Amin-Ur Rashid Yasin, adviser to the BNP chairperson, Selim Bhuiya, central organizational secretary (Comilla Division), Ashikur Rahman Mahmud Wasim, member secretary of Comilla South District BNP, Udbat-ul Bari Abu, president of Comilla Metropolitan BNP, and Yusuf Molla Tipu, general secretary of Comilla Metropolitan BNP, among others.
Following the speeches, the victory rally proceeded through the main streets of the city.
