Boat Capsizes on Way to See Bride, Two Including Child Missing

Two people, including a child, went missing after a boat capsized in a haor (wetland) while heading to see a prospective bride. Five others were rescued alive from the incident. The accident occurred on Saturday (August 23) at noon in Daram Haor, Dharmapasha, Sunamganj.

Locals reported that the groom’s party was traveling by boat from Dharmapasha to Maheshpur to see a bride. Upon reaching Daram Haor in Kandapara, the boat sank due to strong winds and high waves.

While locals managed to rescue five people, a child named Nusrat and a matchmaker named Shamsuddin remain missing. Search operations are underway to locate them. The rescued individuals are Babul Mia (44) and Abdul Hasim (60) from Kandapara village, Israt Jahan (10), Shafiqul Islam (50) from Radhanagar village, and Ripon Mia (45).
