Brazil to Play Six Friendly Matches Before Announcing 2026 World Cup Squad

In preparation for the 2026 World Cup, the Brazil Football Confederation (CBF) has already reached agreements with the football federations of South Korea and Japan to play friendly matches in October. According to Brazilian media outlet *Globo Esporte*, the five-time world champions are finalizing commercial agreements and bureaucratic details for these matches. If all goes as planned, Brazil, coached by Carlo Ancelotti, will face South Korea in Seoul on October 10 and Japan in Tokyo on October 14.

*Globo Esporte* reports that Brazil previously played friendlies against South Korea and Japan before the 2022 World Cup, defeating South Korea 5-1 in Seoul and Japan 1-0 in Tokyo under then-coach Tite.

The outlet further states that Brazil plans to play a total of six friendly matches before finalizing their 2026 World Cup squad. In November this year, the CBF aims to arrange a friendly against an African team, while in March next year, they plan to face a European side. The venues for these matches will depend on commercial agreements. The 2026 World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will begin on June 11 next year. Additionally, Brazil has the opportunity to play two more friendlies in early June next year, depending on the coaching staff’s decisions, as reported by *Globo Esporte*.
Brazil has already secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Next month, they will play their final two World Cup qualifiers: against Chile in Rio de Janeiro on September 5 and against Bolivia on September 10.
