Election Commission Instructs Submission of Investigation Reports on Party Registration by August 31

The Election Commission (EC) of Bangladesh has sent 22 political parties for field-level investigations as part of the process for registering new political parties. The EC has directed officials to verify the existence and functionality of these parties’ district and upazila-level offices and submit investigation reports by August 31.

On Monday (August 25), Mohammad Delowar Hossain, Senior Assistant Secretary of the EC, sent these instructions to field officers.

The directive specifies that senior district election officers, district election officers, or additional district election officers will conduct investigations at the district level. They are required to complete a designated checklist, number all documents, seal them, and send them in a special envelope to the regional election officer. The regional election officers will then compile the documents for each political party and forward them confidentially to the Election Commission Secretariat. Similarly, upazila election officers will conduct investigations at the upazila level. They will complete the checklist, seal the documents, and send them to the district level. District election officers will compile the envelopes received from upazilas, organize them by political party, seal them in special envelopes, and send them to the EC Secretariat.
According to EC sources, the registration process for these new political parties will advance to the next phase once the field investigation reports are received.
