Kushtia, August 3, 2025: A 24-year-old woman was gang-raped in front of her husband in Bheramara, Kushtia, on Saturday night (August 2) in the 12-mile area of the upazila. Following the incident, police conducted an overnight operation and arrested five suspects, who have been sent to jail.
According to police and local sources, the victim, a housewife, worked as a cook at a roadside eatery along the Bheramara-Kushtia highway. After finishing work past 11 PM, she was returning home to Kuthibazar with her husband on a van when 6-7 miscreants intercepted them. The assailants brutally beat her husband and took the woman to a nearby litchi orchard, where they gang-raped her.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Bheramara Police Station and Detective Branch (DB) conducted raids throughout the night and arrested five individuals involved in the crime. The arrested are Kalu Pramanik (46), son of late Mozammel Pramanik from Moslempur village; Murshid Sheikh (45), son of Mozammel Sheikh from Sholodag village; Titu alias Tipu Mondal (42), son of late Akched Mondal; Ejazul (42), son of late Nabi Mondal; and Rubel Ali (24), a van driver, son of late Habibul Sardar.
Bheramara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rob Talukder confirmed that the victim was rescued and admitted to a hospital. A case has been filed at the police station, and the arrested individuals have been sent to jail through the court.
