Israel Launches Massive Airstrikes on Yemen**

Israel carried out extensive airstrikes on various targets in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, on Sunday, August 24. The Israeli military targeted a military base near the Presidential Palace, two power plants, and a fuel depot in the city.

The strikes come two days after Yemen’s Houthi rebels launched a missile attack on Israel on Friday, using a cluster bomb warhead. Parts of the missile struck a residential building in Israel.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the military base near the Presidential Palace in Sanaa is used by the Houthis to conduct military operations. The IDF also claimed that the targeted power plants supply electricity for the Houthis’ military activities. According to the Times of Israel, a dozen aircraft, including fighter jets and refueling planes, participated in the operation. A military source reported that 30 bombs were dropped on Sanaa during the attack. The Houthis have been launching ballistic missiles at Israel in solidarity with the people of Gaza, where Israel has been accused of carrying out brutal operations. Despite the 2,000-kilometer distance between Yemen and Israel, the Houthis’ missiles have reached Israeli territory. Israel has frequently responded to Houthi attacks with airstrikes on Yemen, targeting key infrastructure, including the port of Sanaa, causing significant damage to the country’s critical facilities.
