BNP Leader Fazlur Rahman Declared Persona Non Grata in Kishoreganj

Kishoreganj: In response to controversial remarks by BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Fazlur Rahman, students in Kishoreganj have declared him persona non grata in his home district. The announcement was made by Ratul Nahid Bhuiyan, former joint convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Kishoreganj district branch.

On Sunday evening (August 24), students organized a symbolic "public beating" program at Gurudayal Government College ground to protest Rahman’s statements. The event saw participation from a large number of students and locals.

According to sources, Fazlur Rahman, during a recent talk show on a private television channel, referred to the July uprising as a "dark force" and labeled its supporters as "children of Razakars." He further claimed that the fall of Sheikh Hasina on August 5 last year was primarily due to a conspiracy by Jamaat-Shibir. These remarks sparked outrage among students in Kishoreganj. Student Khalilur Rahman expressed his anger, stating, “Fazlur Rahman’s comments are highly arrogant. We have heard he has been issued a show-cause notice, but we demand his expulsion.” Ratul Nahid Bhuiyan, speaking at the event, declared, “Due to such statements, we are declaring Fazlur Rahman persona non grata in Kishoreganj.”

The program was attended by former convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Kishoreganj district branch, Hafez Ikram Hossain; former member secretary Faysal Prince; former joint convener Ratul Nahid Bhuiyan; spokesperson of Warriors of July, Manas Sarkar Utsho; former spokesperson Sabirul Haque Tanmoy; former joint member secretary Shamsur Rahman; and numerous students and locals.
