Israel has revoked the visas of several Australian diplomats in response to Canberra’s decision to recognize Palestinian statehood and the cancellation of a visa for an Israeli lawmaker. The move was reported by the news agency Reuters.
The Australian government canceled the visa of an Israeli lawmaker from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition government, citing the lawmaker’s opposition to Palestinian statehood and advocacy for the annexation of the occupied West Bank.
In a post on X, Foreign Minister Sa’ar stated, “I have instructed the Israeli Embassy in Canberra to exercise caution in granting visas to Australian officials, as their visa restrictions on Israeli officials are entirely unjustified.”
