Jatiya Party Office Vandalized, Road Blocked in Tangail

In protest of an attack on Gono Adhikar Parishad President Nurul Haq Nur and its activists, the Tangail district office of the Jatiya Party was vandalized, and the Dhaka-Tangail-Yamuna Bridge highway was blocked by members of the Gono Adhikar Parishad.

On Saturday, August 30, around 11:30 AM, the Jatiya Party office located near the Tangail Sadar police station was vandalized. Earlier, at around 11:00 AM, a protest procession organized by the district Gono Adhikar Parishad marched through the town. The procession passed Nirala Mor and reached the Jatiya Party office near the Sadar police station. Initially, the outer parts of the office were damaged, followed by vandalism inside the premises.

Subsequently, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, activists of the Gono Adhikar Parishad blocked the Dhaka-Tangail-Yamuna Bridge highway at the Nagarjalfai bypass area. During the blockade, protesters raised slogans condemning the attack on VP Nur and other issues. Speeches were delivered by Tangail district Gono Adhikar Parishad President Sujan Mahmud, General Secretary Sagor Mahmud, activist Nawab, and other leaders and members. Tangail Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tanvir Hasan said, “We tried to bring the situation under control. The situation is now stable, and police have been deployed to the area.”
