A local leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) youth wing, Jubo Dal, Shamim Hossain, aged 33, was brutally murdered by unidentified assailants in his rented residence in Khulna’s Dumuria upazila. The incident occurred late Friday night (August 22, 2025) in the Atharo Mile area, where attackers entered his home and hacked him on the back of his neck with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot.
Shamim, son of Abdul Ghaffar Sheikh from Uthuli village in Islamkati union of Tala upazila, was a former Union Parishad (UP) member and served as the joint convener of the Islamkati Union unit of Jubo Dal. He had been residing in the Atharo Mile area of Dumuria for years, running a pesticide business.
Masud Rana, officer-in-charge of Dumuria Police Station, confirmed that the body was recovered and sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Additional police personnel have been deployed to the area following the incident. “We are investigating the matter and have yet to determine the motive behind the killing,” he said, adding that no formal complaint has been filed by the family yet
