Mysterious Death of Housewife in Mirpur: Case Filed Against Husband and Eight Others

In a shocking incident in Dhaka’s Shewrapara, Fahmida Tahsin Keya (25), a mother of four, died under mysterious circumstances, prompting a murder case against her husband, Sifat Ali (30), and eight others. The case was filed by the victim’s mother, Nazma Begum, at the Mirpur Model Police Station, with Sifat Ali named as the prime accused.

On Friday (August 1), Mirpur Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC), Sajjad Roman, confirmed the case. He stated that Nazma Begum lodged a complaint, which has been registered as a murder case. The accused include Sifat Ali, their driver, and seven others. A manhunt is underway to apprehend the suspects. According to the victim’s family and relatives, the death stemmed from a domestic dispute. They allege that Sifat Ali strangled Keya and then fled after informing her family over the phone. Keya’s aunt, Saida Fatema Jahan Kali, revealed that around 2:00 AM on Wednesday, Sifat called Nazma Begum, claiming Keya was seriously ill and urging them to come to their home. When pressed, Sifat admitted, “Keya is no longer alive.”
Nazma Begum and her husband rushed to the house and found Sifat taking Keya to BRB Hospital in Panthapath. Upon arrival, doctors declared Keya dead, after which Sifat disappeared. Returning to the house, Nazma Begum found it locked, with Sifat having fled.
