BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has claimed that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently in India after losing power due to a student-people’s uprising, has opened an office in Kolkata to orchestrate conspiracies against Bangladesh.
Speaking at a gathering at the National Press Club auditorium in Dhaka on Friday (August 8), organized by the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Front, Rizvi made these remarks.
He stated, “No one was spared from Sheikh Hasina’s oppression. Followers of the Sanatan religion who supported BNP were deprived. Feeding on the blood of children, youth, students, and the masses, the fascist Sheikh Hasina fled the country amidst a wave of public outrage. She loved only her family and grandchildren. Even after fleeing, she has not stopped her conspiracies.”
Rizvi further questioned, “Sheikh Hasina claimed that the people of the country loved her. Then why is her office in Kolkata? Why did she flee?”
He accused Hasina of portraying Bangladesh as a hub of extremism and militancy to foreign powers to secure her position and power. “She wanted to show that the country is steeped in communal division. She conducted elections at night to steal people’s voting rights, calling it a daytime vote. The fascist Hasina robbed the people of their voting rights,” he added.
The event was attended by notable figures, including Bangladesh Puja Celebration Front President Aparna Roy Das, BNP National Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, and Ganaforum President Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, among others.
