South African All-Rounder Penalized Despite Match Victory

South Africa secured a significant victory against Australia in the second T20I. However, despite the win, Proteas all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been penalized for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the match.

Bosch has not been fined monetarily, but he has received one demerit point added to his record. The violation pertains to Article 2.5 of the ICC’s Code of Conduct, classified as a Level-1 offense.

The incident occurred during the 17th over of Australia’s innings. After dismissing Ben Dwarshuis, Bosch pointed towards the dressing room in a provocative gesture, which was deemed a breach of the ICC’s Code of Conduct.

According to the ICC’s statement, the violation involves “using language, actions, or gestures directed at a dismissed batter that could provoke an aggressive reaction in an international match.”

Bosch admitted to the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by the match referee, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.
