South Korean Company to Set Up Tent Factory in Mongla EPZ

On Wednesday, a signing ceremony took place at the executive office of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) on Green Road in the capital, marking an agreement between BEPZA and South Korea’s OCF Company Limited. The South Korean firm will invest USD 8.06 million to establish a factory in the Mongla Export Processing Zone (EPZ) for manufacturing tents, camping furniture, and bags.

The agreement was signed by Md. Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Development) of BEPZA, on behalf of BEPZA, and Haiyun Gil Kim, Chairman of OCF Company Limited, on behalf of the company. The ceremony was attended by BEPZA’s Executive Chairman, Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, Member (Engineering) Md. Imtiaz Hossain, Member (Finance) A.N.M. Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Investment Development) Md. Tanvir Hossain, and Executive Director (Public Relations) A.S.M. Anwar Parvez, among others.

OCF Company Limited will produce tents, tent accessories, camping chairs and tables, aluminum and carbon products, ski and trekking poles, mountain and walking sticks, bed cots, pet furniture, arrows, and bags. This initiative is expected to create employment opportunities for 820 people. During the signing ceremony, BEPZA’s Executive Chairman, Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, stated that BEPZA consistently encourages diverse production investments. He expressed hope that OCF Company Limited would act as an ambassador to attract further South Korean investments to EPZs in the future. Haiyun Gil Kim, Chairman of OCF Company Limited, thanked BEPZA for their comprehensive support and expressed optimism, stating, “We hope to commence production at our factory within the next year.”
