Dhaka, August 1, 2025 – The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning for possible storms in the capital Dhaka and 11 other districts by noon today. River ports in these areas have been instructed to display cautionary signal number one.
According to the weather forecast for internal river ports, valid from 5 AM to 1 PM on Friday, August 1, storms with wind speeds of 45-60 km/h may sweep through Pabna, Dhaka, Faridpur, Tangail, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, and Chattogram. These storms, originating from the south or southeast, may also bring rain or thunderstorms.

In a 120-hour forecast, the Meteorological Department noted that the monsoon axis extends from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and central Bangladesh to Assam, with an extension reaching the northern Bay of Bengal. The monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong in the northern Bay of Bengal.
For Saturday, August 2, from 9 AM onwards, the 24-hour forecast predicts light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with gusty winds in most parts of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and in many areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barishal divisions. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also possible in some areas across the country. Day and night temperatures may slightly decrease nationwide.
