In a joint operation, three youths were arrested in Lakshmipur with firearms and Yaba tablets. The operation was conducted around 12:30 AM on Friday night in a residence in the West Lakshmipur area of Lakshmipur Municipality.
Among the arrested, two are brothers: Ahmad Faruk and Ahmad Al-Arefin, sons of Monir Hossain from West Lakshmipur. The third individual is Ahsan Ahmed, son of Tofayel Ahmed from Ward No. 3, Banchanogor area of the municipality.
According to police, the operation led to the recovery of two LG firearms, three machetes, five knives, a pistol magazine, two bullets, 83 Yaba tablets, an army uniform, and 36,000 taka from the residence. Additionally, four notebooks used to keep records of drug transactions were seized.
Lakshmipur Sadar Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Monnaf told Prothom Alo that a case has been filed in connection with the incident, with Sub-Inspector Sohel Rana as the complainant. The three detained individuals have been formally arrested in the case.
