Youth Arrested in Araihazar After Video with Firearm Goes Viral

In Araihazar, Narayanganj, a 20-year-old youth named Sabid Hossain was arrested after a video of him holding a firearm went viral on social media, sparking panic among locals. The police detained him on Thursday night (August 28) during a raid.

According to police, the viral video showed Sabid inside a room, handling a foreign-made firearm and its magazine. The video, which spread across various Facebook groups and pages over the past two to three days, caused widespread concern in the area, prompting police action.

While Sabid has been apprehended, the firearm seen in the video has not yet been recovered. Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the weapon’s origin and location. Multiple law enforcement teams are actively working on the case. Araihazar Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khandaker Nasir Uddin said, “We have detained the youth seen in the video. However, the firearm has not been recovered yet. We are investigating to determine where the weapon came from and how it ended up in his possession.”

He added that Sabid is currently under interrogation, and authorities are verifying whether he is affiliated with any political group.
