AB Party’s Expectations for BNP on Its 47th Anniversary: Tarek Rahman to Lead Like Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia

On the occasion of the 47th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) extended its greetings to BNP.

On Monday (September 1), AB Party’s Assistant Publicity Secretary Azadul Islam Azad issued a press release conveying the greetings from the party’s Chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju and General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad.

In the press release, they highlighted BNP’s numerous achievements, including the restoration of multi-party democracy, effective initiatives in forming SAARC, strengthening independent foreign policy, bringing back democracy through the anti-autocracy movement, introducing a free-market economy, expanding export-oriented trade, and establishing a Bangladeshi nationalism that embraces all ethnic groups, moving beyond language-based nationalism. The statement further noted, “On the 47th founding anniversary of BNP, we pay our deepest respects to its founder, former President and one of the key commanders in Bangladesh’s independence struggle, Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam. We also recall the uncompromising leadership and sacrifices of Begum Khaleda Zia, a leader who believes in Bangladeshi nationalism, for the liberation of the people of Bangladesh.” The press release added, “Through the sacrifices of nearly 2,000 martyrs, 20,000 injured, and the struggles of millions, a mass uprising has freed the country from the autocratic Hasina regime. Now is the time, keeping past bitter experiences in mind, for BNP to take inspiration from the post-uprising new Bangladesh and work toward implementing the July Charter, drafting a new constitution based on the aspirations of the people, and ensuring the rights of the people are delivered to their doorsteps through a new political approach. The future Bangladesh will be free from fascism, autocracy, and terrorism, and BNP will play a leading role in its formation. Just as Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia won the hearts of the people, we hope BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarek Rahman, as Zia’s successor, will lead the party with the same zeal to win the hearts of the people in the new Bangladesh.” AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju and General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad expressed their hopes that BNP’s journey in the struggle to establish the rights of the people of Bangladesh will be successful.
