Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), stated that BNP is the political party that introduced multi-party democracy, moving away from a one-party system. He made these remarks during his inaugural speech at the biennial conference of the Thakurgaon District BNP, held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at around 11:30 AM at the large field of Thakurgaon Boys’ High School.
The BNP Secretary General further said, “BNP is the party that ensured the freedom of our media. Centered around the 21-point agenda of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, Begum Zia envisioned a new Bangladesh. The fascist system has devastated and broken Bangladesh. Every institution has collapsed. To rebuild these institutions, restructure the political framework, and create a new Bangladesh, Tarique Zia has formulated a 31-point program.”
The conference will feature BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman as the chief guest, joining virtually. Other attendees include BNP Central Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu and local leaders and activists.
