The Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources has issued a directive for officers and employees of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) who are absent under the pretext of mass leave to return to their workplaces within 24 hours. The ministry emphasized that uninterrupted electricity supply is an essential service, and any disruption or obstruction to this service is a punishable offense under the law.
In a press release issued on Sunday, September 7, 2025, Mohammad Shafiullah, the Information and Public Relations Officer of the ministry, conveyed this message. The statement highlighted that the government is aware of the demands of REB officers and employees and is working to address them.
It is noteworthy that the REB officers and employees announced an indefinite mass leave starting from Sunday, September 7, 2025, to press for a four-point demand, including the elimination of job disparities and an end to harassing measures.
