Train Services on Dhaka-Chattogram and Sylhet Routes Resume After 4.5 Hours

Brahmanbaria, September 6, 2025: Train services on the Dhaka-Chattogram and Dhaka-Sylhet routes resumed after being suspended for four and a half hours due to the derailment of a coach of the Karnaphuli Express in Brahmanbaria. The services were restored at 7:50 PM on Saturday after the derailed coach was recovered.

The incident occurred at 3:20 PM when a coach of the Karnaphuli Express derailed near the outer area of Brahmanbaria Railway Station, disrupting rail connectivity between Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet.

Assistant Station Master Sakir Jahan reported that after the train left Brahmanbaria Station following its scheduled stop, the ‘C’ coach derailed near a railway crossing with a loud noise, halting train operations.
He added that a rescue train from Akhaura Junction was deployed to carry out recovery operations. After several hours of effort, the derailed coach was removed, and train services resumed normally at 7:50 PM.
