The disruption began at 5:10 PM when power supply from the metro rail’s electrical substation in the Bijoy Sarani area was interrupted, halting train operations.
According to sources from the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the agency responsible for operating the metro rail, the power outage at the Bijoy Sarani substation led to a complete suspension of train services. As a result, metro rail operations between Shahbagh and Shewrapara, and consequently the entire route, were disrupted.
Commuters faced significant challenges due to the sudden halt. Many passengers were seen waiting at stations, while others resorted to alternative transportation, such as buses, to continue their journeys.
