Dhaka, April 24, 2025 – In a sweeping 24-hour special operation conducted across Bangladesh, law enforcement authorities arrested a total of 1,617 individuals, according to a statement released by the Police Headquarters. The operation targeted both case-related and warrant-based fugitives, as well as individuals involved in other incidents.
Inamul Haque Sagar, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Media and Public Relations at the Police Headquarters, disclosed the details on Thursday. He reported that 1,021 individuals were apprehended in connection with pending cases and outstanding warrants. Additionally, 596 others were detained in relation to various other incidents, bringing the total number of arrests to 1,617.
The operation also resulted in the recovery of significant weaponry, including one pistol, two rounds of ammunition, and one pipe gun. AIG Sagar emphasized that such special operations will continue to ensure public safety and uphold law and order across the country.
The nationwide crackdown reflects the police force's ongoing efforts to address criminal activities and apprehend fugitives, signaling a robust approach to maintaining security.
