Bollywood’s acclaimed actor Paresh Rawal, once a Member of Parliament for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has expressed his openness to hearing criticism of the Modi government from industry peers like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Naseeruddin Shah. Known for his versatility in both comedic and serious roles, Rawal emphasized the importance of valuing colleagues’ opinions over rigid party loyalty.
In a recent interview on a popular YouTube channel, Rawal stated, “If Naseer bhai, Aamir, or Shah Rukh have something to say, I can’t dismiss them. I’ll listen attentively because I know they have no hidden agendas or weapons to tear anyone apart. Whatever they say will be for my betterment.” He added, “We share a great bond. I’ll listen, reflect, and strive to improve myself. I respect them, and they love me too.”
Praising Naseeruddin Shah, Rawal said, “When Naseer bhai speaks, it’s from the heart. People like him make me feel secure; otherwise, it’s hard to look beyond oneself.”
Interestingly, in an earlier interview on the same YouTube channel, Naseeruddin Shah’s wife, actress Ratna Pathak Shah, had lauded Rawal’s professionalism despite their differing political ideologies. She remarked, “We’re in a time where personal political preferences shouldn’t affect relationships. I won’t let that happen as long as I’m here. I don’t care about the political identity of someone I like.”
Having worked together in popular Bollywood films like Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Hum Do Hamare Do, Rawal and Pathak share a strong professional rapport. Rawal’s recent comments echo Pathak’s liberal outlook, sending a message of tolerance by advocating for open dialogue with colleagues like Shah Rukh, Aamir, and Naseeruddin.
