Dhaka Gate, April 25, 2025
On Friday, April 25, 2025, a large group of students and activists staged a protest in Dhaka to condemn the ongoing attacks and persecution of Muslims by extremist Hindu nationalist groups across India. The demonstration, organized by the National Revolutionary Council, took place at the north gate of Baitul Mokarram Mosque after the Jumma prayers.
Protesters demanded freedom for Indian-administered Kashmir, Palestine, and Arakan, calling for an end to the oppression of Muslims in these regions. The crowd raised slogans such as “Free Free Kashmir,” “Free Free Palestine,” “Free Free Arakan,” “World, unite, stop Gaza’s occupation,” “Muslims of the world, unite and fight,” and denounced the actions of India, Israel, and Myanmar, chanting, “Crush the black hands of India, Israel, and Myanmar.”
The protest was chaired by Mohammad Shamsuddin, senior joint convener of the National Revolutionary Council, with speeches delivered by joint convener Saiyed Kutub and Abdul Wahed, convener of the Revolutionary Students’ Council.
Shamsuddin criticized the Indian government, stating that despite India hosting the world’s largest Muslim population, it has supported Israel in the massacre of Palestinian Muslims and conspired to seize Muslim religious properties through the controversial Waqf Bill. He accused the Narendra Modi government of failing to address Muslim grievances and instead blaming Muslims for the killing of 27 tourists in a heavily militarized Kashmir, using the incident to fuel further attacks. “Muslims across India, including Kashmir, are now victims of saffron terrorism. This must stop, and Hindu nationalists must face exemplary punishment,” he said.
Shamsuddin also condemned the interim government’s Women’s Commission in Bangladesh for its anti-Islamic recommendations, alleging that covert agents, in collusion with NGOs, are attempting to impose a uniform family law similar to India’s, undermining Islamic laws. He demanded the immediate dissolution of the commission.
Saiyed Kutub highlighted the historical role of Muslims in liberating India from British colonial rule, denouncing the current wave of violence and displacement against them by Hindu nationalists. “India’s plan to erase its Muslim population will never succeed,” he asserted, adding that the struggle for Palestinian independence is a fight for every freedom-loving person and Muslim worldwide.
Abdul Wahed accused the Modi government of orchestrating a “militant drama” in Kashmir to arrest Muslims, labeling it a joint conspiracy of Zionism and Hindu nationalism. He urged everyone to speak out against this plot.
The event saw participation from key members of the National Revolutionary Council, including secretary Hasan Mohammad Arif, central committee member Md. Tofayel Ahmed, and representatives from the Revolutionary Students’ Council’s Dhaka University and Bangladesh Islamic University branches, among others.
