Dhaka: The case files of the murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Meherun Runi have reportedly been destroyed in a fire, according to the state counsel's statement to the High Court.
However, the investigation agency PBI has contradicted this, stating that the files were not burned but are missing.
On Tuesday, April 22, the High Court bench led by Justice Fatema Nazib and Justice Shikdar Mahmudur Raji was informed of this development. The court has granted an additional six months for the investigation.
On February 11, 2012, journalist couple Sagar Sarwar, news editor of Maasranga Television, and Meherun Runi, senior reporter of ATN Bangla, were brutally murdered in their rented apartment in West Rajabazar, Dhaka. Following the incident, Runi's brother Nausher Alam Roman filed a murder case at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
