The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a youth named Md. Yusuf Ali (26) with 2.5 kilograms of heroin, valued at approximately Tk 2.5 crore, in Chapainawabganj’s Debinagar Union. The seizure was confirmed by RAB-5, CPC-1 Chapainawabganj Camp, in a press release sent to the media on Friday (April 25) at around 8:00 PM.
The operation took place earlier that day at 10:30 AM in Harma village, Ward No. 7 of Debinagar Union, near the confluence of the Mora and Padma rivers, adjacent to a cornfield. Yusuf Ali, son of Abdul Bashir from Jahanabad Chatarapukur in Godagari Upazila, Rajshahi, was apprehended during the raid.
Acting on intelligence about a drug consignment passing through Debinagar Union, RAB conducted a planned operation. A RAB team positioned themselves covertly near the cornfield in Harma village. When a motorcycle’s movements raised suspicion, it was stopped, and a search led to the recovery of 2.5 kilograms of heroin from Yusuf Ali. Additionally, the motorcycle, a mobile phone, and Tk 2,500 in cash were seized.
Squadron Leader Maruf Hossain Khan, Commander of RAB-5 Chapainawabganj Camp, stated that a case is being filed at the Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station in connection with the incident.
