However, Faruk Ahmed has firmly stated that he will not resign without a valid reason. Any attempt to forcibly remove him could plunge Bangladesh cricket into a crisis, potentially inviting severe sanctions, including a ban from the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Following the change in state power last August, Faruk Ahmed and Nazmul Abedin Fahim were appointed as BCB directors by the National Sports Council (NSC). While the NSC has the authority to replace directors, Faruk Ahmed is not just a director but also the elected president of the BCB, chosen through a vote by the board’s directors. Therefore, unless he voluntarily steps down, the NSC cannot remove him from the presidency. Such an action could lead to Bangladesh cricket facing an ICC ban.
