Dhaka, May 7, 2025: The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism of Bangladesh has announced strict measures against unregistered travel agencies and those operating with expired registration certificates. The directive was issued in a notification by the ministry’s Tourism-3 branch on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Signed by Deputy Secretary Mirza Murad Hasan Beg, the notification has been sent to all district administrators and district magistrate offices across the country. It emphasizes compliance with the Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) Act, 2013, its 2021 amendment, and the Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) Rules, 2022. According to these laws, no travel agency can operate without a valid registration certificate or with an expired one.
The ministry has urged all unregistered travel agencies to promptly apply for registration through its Online Travel Agency Management System (www.regtravelagency.gov.bd). Agencies with expired certificates have also been requested to renew them urgently. The notification warns that those continuing to operate illegally will face stringent legal action, including mobile court operations, under the 2013 Act.
This move aims to regulate the travel industry, ensuring consumer protection and adherence to legal standards.
