Google Chrome Introduces New Security Feature to Enhance Password Protection

Dhaka, May 25, 2025 : Google is set to roll out a new security feature for its Chrome browser aimed at tackling the risks associated with weak or compromised passwords. This innovative addition, integrated with Google’s Password Manager, is designed to protect users from cyber threats, such as account hacking and data theft, which are often exploited by cybercriminals to steal personal or sensitive information and even demand ransoms.

The new feature builds on the existing capabilities of Google Password Manager, which currently alerts users about weak or compromised passwords. With the upcoming update, Chrome will not only warn users but also automatically generate strong, complex passwords when a weak or hacked password is detected during a website login. With user consent, these new passwords will be saved in the browser, allowing seamless access to various websites without the hassle of manually updating credentials.
According to a Google blog post, when Chrome identifies a compromised password during a login attempt, the Password Manager will suggest a secure alternative. This feature simplifies the process of replacing weak passwords, eliminating the need for users to navigate complex account settings. Google plans to initially implement this feature on select websites in 2025, with plans to expand its coverage in the future.
Parisa Tabriz, Vice President of Google’s Chrome division, emphasized the importance of this update: “Changing passwords can be a tedious task for many, leading some to skip it altogether. Chrome’s automated password change feature is a win for both security and usability, making it easier for users to stay protected.”
This development is expected to significantly reduce the risks posed by cyberattacks, ensuring a safer browsing experience for Chrome users ওওরলদ্বিদে
