International Desk,May 5, 2025 :Israeli air forces conducted airstrikes on Yemen’s port city of Hodeidah on Monday, May 5, targeting Houthi rebel positions, according to statements from the Yemeni Houthi group. The strikes come a day after the Houthis launched a ballistic missile near Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport on Sunday, temporarily halting flight operations in the area.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had vowed to take “severe measures” against the Houthis in response to the missile attack. Reports indicate that the Israeli airstrikes targeted nine locations in Hodeidah, as per Houthi-affiliated media cited by Qatar-based Al Jazeera.
Israeli media reported that approximately 30 aircraft were involved in the operation, which was carried out in coordination with the United States. A U.S. official confirmed the joint efforts. Notably, just before the Israeli strikes, U.S. forces conducted airstrikes on Yemen’s capital, Sanaa.
The escalation marks a significant development in the ongoing tensions between Israel and the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, raising concerns about further regional instability.
