Dhaka, May 6, 2025: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia returned to her Gulshan residence, Firoza, on Tuesday after completing medical treatment in London. Accompanied by her daughters-in-law, Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Sayeda Sharmila Rahman, she arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:40 AM on an air ambulance. After completing formalities, she left the airport at 11:20 AM and reached Firoza at 1:25 PM, greeted by thousands of BNP supporters along the way.
Shayrul Kabir, a member of Khaleda Zia’s media wing, confirmed her arrival at Firoza, noting the presence of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other leaders. Supporters gathered at the airport from early morning, creating a festive atmosphere with slogans and applause as Khaleda’s convoy departed. The route from the airport to Gulshan was lined with cheering party activists.
Stringent security measures were enforced along the route, with law enforcement and BNP volunteers ensuring order. Khaleda Zia had traveled to London on January 8 for advanced treatment at the London Clinic under specialist care. Her travel was facilitated by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who provided an air ambulance for both her journey to London and her return to Dhaka.
