Dhaka, May 6, 2025 : The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a thunderstorm warning for Dhaka and eight other districts, forecasting gusty winds and lightning strikes. Winds may reach speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour during the storms.
Meteorologist Dr. Md. Omar Faruk stated that temporary thunderstorms, accompanied by gusty winds of 45-60 km/h or more, are expected to affect Dhaka, Manikganj, Gazipur, Narsingdi, Munshiganj, Narayanganj, Cumilla, and Brahmanbaria. Rainfall and lightning are also likely in these areas.
In a separate forecast, the weather office predicted that by evening, regions including Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Kushtia, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, and Sylhet may experience rain or thunderstorms with gusty winds of 45-60 km/h from the west/northwest direction. River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number one.
