May 5, 2025: Khaleda Zia, the chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), departed London’s Heathrow Airport for Bangladesh on Monday aboard a specially arranged air ambulance. The aircraft, provided by Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, took off at 9:35 PM Bangladesh time.
According to Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of Khaleda Zia’s media wing, the former prime minister is expected to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Tuesday at approximately 10:30 AM. Upon arrival, she will head directly to her residence, ‘Firoza,’ in Gulshan.
Khaleda Zia had been in London for nearly four months, receiving advanced medical treatment. She traveled to the UK on January 8, 2025, on the same royal air ambulance, following concerns about her health. The special aircraft was arranged by the Amir of Qatar to facilitate her travel.
This marks the return of the former prime minister to Bangladesh after a significant period of medical care abroad.
